The cover presents a twentieth century Orthodox icon of the Mother of God and the Infant Jesus.  It is of the hotigitria-eleusa [Guide to the Path — Merciful] genre of icon writing. In this pose, the Virgin Mother is portrayed as Advocate of Christians.
