Solicited book reviews should be sent to reviews@thepolishreview.org, with cc to editor@thepolishreview.org and bcc to manager@thepolishreview.org. Hard-copy submissions mailed to the Editor at the address below will be considered, but electronic submissions receive expedited consideration.  All hard-copy submissions must be accompanied by an electronic version of the text.  Hard copies, whether accepted for publication or not, are not returned to the authors.

All submissions to The Polish Review must conform to MLA footnote style.  Footnotes are placed at the bottom of the page on which they appear.  Citations of printed sources must be identified in full bibliographical style for the first entry, such as: 12John Smith , Poland ( New York : PIASA Books, 2006), Pp. 46-47; subsequent citations from the same source will be given as follows:  13Smith, Pp. 57-58.  If different titles by the same author are cited, subsequent citations will include the title: 14Smith, Poland , P. 4. Do not use “ibid.” and “op. cit.”  Bibliographies should not be included with articles.  All articles must be double-spaced, except for block quotes.  Book reviews should include full bibliographical material at the head of the review, including number of pages and ISBN.  Book reviews should not be footnoted.

All citations, titles and words in languages other than English should be given in the original language first, with the English translation in parentheses directly afterwards.  Literary works should always be cited in the original tongue, with English translations directly following.  Unless circumstances dictate otherwise (v.g. in the case of articles dealing with comparative verse translations), English translations of poetry should be given in prose, following the original citation.

The length of articles should not exceed thirty pages. Review articles should be ten pages in length, and book reviews, five.

The Polish Review is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal, and editorial decisions are based upon the opinions of readers expert in the field particular to a given article.  Peer reviews are conducted anonymously.  Authors of accepted texts will receive proof copies by e-mail, and are requested to review the proofs and return them to the editor within a week of receipt.

Authors are also requested to include a brief biographical note suitable for use on the Contributors Page of the volume in which the article is to appear, as well as contact information (name, physical address, e-mail address).

The Polish Review does not consider materials published elsewhere, or texts under consideration by another publication.  As a rule, The Polish Review does not publish more than two contributions by one author during a single volume year.

From time to time, The Polish Review publishes original English translations of noteworthy literary texts.  The importance of the translated text, and the quality of the English translation, are the decisive factors in our decisions to publish, or decline, such submissions.
